++ Its 09:20 p.m. why isn't Steph asleep yet!?! ++ I'm only staying up so I can sleep at a decent hour tonight ;_; This is a surefire way to a angry chibi kerostef. ;_; On another note which I will rant about. ^^ Site Ratings Pages: I was browsing Anipike to see if they had put my Keroshrine up and I found two interesting sites that are as different as night and day. The sites I am talking about are The Judgement and The Worst CCS Sites. Now this may be cowardly to blog about them instead of writing in their guestbooks but I think I've learned a lesson from a previous experience that I did not participate in. ^^;; My point is this: The Judgement is a very good page, details point by point the reasons why the page is so bad or good. It details criteria and the four opinions of the judges. Cool. Might I add, they carefuly check the spelling and typos of their page. My one gripe is the slow load time, but its worth the wait to see Yue laid out on my screen. XD I wish they would add more reviews, their criticism is very constructive and "cotton" padded for sensitive feelings. ^_^ On the other hand the Worst CCS Sites page is just a random page that really has no set criteria or a reason why they would vote unfavorably for a site. If anything, the typos (something they criticize) sort of make the page difficult to read, there are broken links and unfinished pages. x_x Its an irony that this page has the same faults that the bad pages are being criticized for. ^^;; While this page also has a best sites section, the title of the site in general sort of overshadows the best sites section. I don't mean to rip on a page, and it has good merits (there are a lot of Card Captor Sakura pages that aren't very well done but they are learning and image stealing and bad color sense is part of that painful learning process), its just that a page whose sole goal is to judge other pages really should present themselves as a well done, well thought out page using the very things they criticize as a check list. My honest opinion is that pages shouldn't be judged at all (except for some reasons that TamaTama expressed in her blog.) Designing pages is a learning experience, not everybody is born with the knowledge for cross platform/java/ccs/xml in their hands. (Hell I can't even get my pages on Netscape to behave! ^^;;) Let's not even touch CCFree until tomorrow when I have more sleep under my eyelids. ^_~ Being a speech major, I took a few classes on communication specifically rhetoric so I'm quick to criticize the double meanings of the way words are writen and arranged. (I'm no master at this but I at least try to sound coherent. ^^;;) With that I'll just go crawl into my corner and curl up and nap. Oh and to quote Hank all typos are intentional. Listening to: Barenaked Ladies - Call and answer ++ Sunday, April 29, 2001 ++ ++ Its 12:32 p.m. why isn't Steph asleep yet!?! ++ *rageragerage* someone out bid me on 3 of the 5 mags that I wanted. Life loves to screw with me doesn't it? ^^;;;++ Sunday, April 29, 2001 ++ ++ Its 02:45 a.m. why isn't Steph asleep yet!?! ++ If I win these auctions I will be a genki sparkly owner of 5 Amie magazines (I bought 2 before bidding). Might I add... shipping is 5 each. >_<If you want to know why I want these magazines so bad. Visit my Nervous Venus page. Chie Waseda is my favorite mangaka in the whole world. Nervous Venus is my favorite manga. The plot, the characters, the art, and the whole presentation of the manga is so good, I have no words to describe the love I have for this story. ^^;;; (yes I'm being weird...). Seriously, if any of you own Amie magazines, I will pay shipping rate and double the price paid at first purchase. Especially if Nervous Venus is in the magazine. Listening to: Madonna - Frozen ++ Sunday, April 29, 2001 ++ ++ Its 12:12 a.m. why isn't Steph asleep yet!?! ++ The May layout is up and running. *Steph does the happy layout dance* Hopefully it fits most browsers (425 for 800x600 o_O sheesh). Also the Pretear page is up. Image gallery, character profiles (I'm missing the maid and Koyasu-butler) and updates to Mikan no Tsuki. ^_^ But I'm done for major page work. However... I am working on a joint LaLa/Asuka info page. (Mostly for random stories like FunFun Factory and Ahiruno Oujisama.) *Debate news:* Today was the last tournament of the season for my debate team. ^^ BAUD had its last tournament with Ed Lee (its so sad to see him go ;_;). And we went out with a bang! =D Here's a list of the accolades that the team won this time around: (this is off of memory)
Amelia: 1st speaker (varisty/breadth) and 8th place team (breadth)
Vicki: 8th place team (breadth)
Camelia: 6th place speaker (depth/J.V.)and team award
Susana: 4th place speaker (depth/J.V.) and team award
Marelene: 6th place team (depth/J.V.) I'm so proud of my teams. ^^ The reward is seeing them succeed and have fun. It shows that I am teaching them the right thing (which I worry about @_@). The greatest reward of the day was Amelia and Vicki beating the best team in the league. George Washington High School eat your hearts out, Balboa HS is nearly a powerhouse debate team. ^_~ Listening to: some song on the radio, Madonna's new song? ++ Sunday, April 29, 2001 ++ ++ Its 08:40 a.m. why isn't Steph asleep yet!?! ++ I do this because I love it. I need to clean up the anime designs and put them on the page. And I need to update my Mikan no Tsuki page. @_@ Listening: some cool song on the radio. ++ Saturday, April 28, 2001 ++ ++ Its 04:31 a.m. why isn't Steph asleep yet!?! ++ I'm almost done with the Pretear page. The more I read into the chapters (well if what I do passes as reading @_@) the more I LOVE this series. Its so good, and the characters (well 1/2 of them) are so nicely developed that it makes me sparkle every time I see it. The only other time I've read a manga like this is maybe Nervous Venus. (I sparkle everytime I read the chapters XD). The characters in Nervous Venus are wonderfully developed (probably better than Pretear.)*Steph halisens Tanzy and Katie* blog you people! I popped in my tape of A&E's Pride and Prejudice so I can see shots of Colin Fitch (I may have gotten his last name wrong.) He's so cool and he makes a great "cool" Englishman. ^^ What else, I slept thru my class, I felt really bad too, I wanted to go to that class (we were going to discuss online relationships! =D) but midway through the morning I turned off my primary alarm and my cell phone alarm magically turned itself off (which happens, as my friend Josh used to say, "Its the gnomes"). Oh well, I went back to sleep at 10:30 because it was cold and I missed class and woke up at 2:10 pulled on some clean clothes (matching ^_~) and went to coach my kids. Then met up with Tony and we met up with my coach Shawn at the pub (where I drank a wee bit 'o beer) and then went hot potting. =) Oh, Dorama-con is May 4th (6-11 I guess...) but at this rate I think it will just be me and Emi going ^_^ not that I mind. I'll get some snacky food (the usual Emi? ^_~) and my bottles of Torani and lots of Genki soda (the official soda of Dorama-con!) Its at my house in SR btw. If anybody is interested in hanging out let me know. *Steph points to the contact info on the upper righthand corner of the page* Listening to: Sarah Maclaughlin ^_^ I think I'll get the new Janet Jackson CD (depends on Amazon's price and the price I can get a Borders...) ++ Friday, April 27, 2001 ++ ++ Its 11:12 p.m. why isn't Steph asleep yet!?! ++ I went and saw Bridget Jones with Emi today. ^_^ We had *perfect* timing, we caught the tail end of the last trailer as we sat down in the back. I love Bridget Jones, its a lot like a modern version of Pride and Prejudice! Of course having Colin (who played Mr. Darcy in the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice) as Mr. Darcy in the film sort of colors that opinion. ^_~ Mr. Darcy is so cool and moody, I'm a Colin/Mr. Darcy fan! =DEmi~ also gave me a burn of Pretear ep 1, Angelic Layer 1 & 2, and Gals 1-3. I had to stop mid way thru Angelic Layer, I had watched about an hour and a half of shoujo anime and I could feel my brain go into sparkly shoujo anime over load. I mostly wanted to see Pretear ep 1. Let me say this now before I comment specifics...
Specifically, I love the way they retained a lot of the manga style in the anime (sometimes details or the flavor is lost in transition...) and the story detail too. They changed the story a bit but its not bad at all. They kept to the plot. Hayate is more dorky moody than in the manga but that's okay. I just love the entire series. XD I love love love it! Oh Emi and I braved cold weather and Mission St. to walk to 22nd and Valencia and picked up some bottles of Torani. I got Lime (its awesome in coke ^_~) Emi got White chocolate and banbana. =d Listening to: the radio *steph goes to Amazon to find new music* ++ Wednesday, April 25, 2001 ++ ++ Its 07:01 p.m. why isn't Steph asleep yet!?! ++ *Steph sparkles*++ Tuesday, April 24, 2001 ++ ++ Its 12:18 a.m. why isn't Steph asleep yet!?! ++ Oh, I'm becoming layout fickle. I'd say I'm a blog layout h0 but I'm not since I don't change it too offten. ^^;; I could be h0 in training? ^^;;;I went with Tanzy and picked up Asuka 5 and Toreware no Minoue vol 3 (which has Suzuka holding a chain which is hooked to Megumi's dogcollar ^_~) I'd like to comment that the covers are ingenious ways to get me to read the story. How could I not go for cool guys chained up? ^^ The image as mentioned before is what prompted a layout change. I needed to update anyways and add links. ^^ I think it turned out well considering my history with tables (which is slightly more successful than say... coding html for netscape -_-). I cut a considerable amount off the top and bottom of the image (especially the bottom) Clamp not only has this fascination with having blood gush out of "X" wounds from Kamui, but to also make Kanoe wear the least amount of clothing possible. The two page spread in the middle (which was all Kanoe btw) is a prime example of "Kanoe's typical wardrobe" ^^;;; But the image is beautiful with so many blues and shades. *_* Angelique which ran in Fantasy DX will soon make its debut in Asuka 6 (which makes me wonder how they'll do with the current stories...) Since its more than a rumor that Kadokawa is coming out with a new magazine, I noticed on the Kadokawa page that Fantasy DX was no longer listed in their Anime&Manga mags. I found this page though, and guessing by the red box at the bottom, the last Fantasy DX issue was 11/2000 (which I happen to have neat!). So I'm guessing Kadokawa is dispersing the Fantasy DX stories between Asuka, Asuka Mystery DX and the new magazine. *Steph hopes that they move Supersonic Angel Engine to Asuka but doubts that will ever happen. -_-* Oh, a few weeks ago I mentioned how I liked watching the new series First Years, its not in its 9 pm monday slot anymore. I knew I gave the series the kiss of death! *sigh* Mental note: get this for my goddaughter's B-day and paint the wish bunny on her watering can. Btw, I'd like to say, Emi~ I rabu j00. XD Listening to: Matrix Soundtrack (I really need to get new cds -_-) ++ Tuesday, April 24, 2001 ++ ++ Its 06:33 p.m. why isn't Steph asleep yet!?! ++ Okay, maybe not Asuka, but Clamp has been getting into the odd with X. Oh and X is going to have an OVA (and this is coming before the very distant TV series). The front of a 3 page color spread has Kamui with blood gushing from an X wound on his back shoulder, he looks like he's numbed the pain out. o_o Kanoe (who is featured on the left of this loverly layout...) is very beautiful and very feathery. ^^ I loved the image. (Can you guess I got my Asuka 5 today. ^^;;;)Listening to: the radio, ooh its Destiny's Child - Survivor (a group I recognize, I need new music ^^;;) ++ Monday, April 23, 2001 ++ |
