locos por los bishounen?

I was in #fushigiyuugi when an interesting conversation in Spanish popped up. ^_^;;; rough translations of the dialouge in italics like so.

[mikael] pero, no necessitas comida filipino para vivir
But you don't need filipino food to live
[mikael] necessitas bishonen para vivir
you need bishonen to live
[mikael] me contento muy bien con los bishonen, no no con la comida ninguna
I'm find with bishonens its like no other form of food
[Chibikero] hahahahaha
[Miaka] hahahaha
[Chibikero] bishonen the ultimate food group
[Miaka] LOL
[mikael] they RULE the food chain
[mikael] at least MY food chain
[Tama-Hmwk] Heh
[Chibikero] its the whole triangle =D
[Chibikero] los bishonen son como la agua y el aire ^_^
Bishonens are like water and air
[Miaka] hahaha
[mikael] si, SIIIII!!
yes! YESSSSS!
[Miaka] yo creo que ustedes son..umm... :P
I think that you guys are umm...
* Miaka thinks of a word to describe
[Miaka] fanchicas ;P
[FudoSick] Shouldn't that be "las bishonens"? :P
[Chibikero] es muy importante para vivir
they are very important/necessary to live
[Tama-Hmwk] lol
[mikael] locos por los bishonen?
Crazy for bishonen?

Anyways the conversation eventually veered into other random things about bishonen and whether or not it should get the "los" (masculine identity) or "las" (feminine identity) article infront of it. ^_^;;; and somehow the conversation veered to serving bishonen meat at a con veered around to this line... (non-relevant bits snipped)

[FudoSick] O_o
* Chibikero watches as Dom pales and hides o.o
[mikael] WHAT is this DOM?! is it a bishonen?! bring it on

^_^;; nuff said. *Steph now goes and hides from Dom...*

Woooo hoooo!

-_- Ugh, I take back what I wrote about MACS. I just wrote a nice entry and I go to delete 1 word and the whole entry is gone. The OS is not logical, the way you find programs is not logical, but the one thing I do like is the fact that (and when Windows stole this idea it was heaven sent for them...) they have a whole icon desktop interface that links to everything so there is no need to go through folders to get to folders. =P Oh and I like how my pages look on IE on a G4 =). But aside from that Macs are the last things I'll buy. Even if they do have a cute teal color or whatever. =P Now if only their keyboards weren't so cramped and that came standard wtih any mac... I don't mind macs really.

My speech 250 class needs to make a presentation to the class. We are a dot.com company that needs to ask investors for more money. =P I volunteered to do the webpage. The idea fo the webpage is simple, we are a design page for "design your own backpacks". Personally I wouldn't mind having my own backpack designed. (Especially one with multiple pockets and a cd pouch ^_~) Compared to the other ideas floating around from the class mybags.com sounds simple and actually marketable in the real world. The profit margin is slim but the idea itself is solid. Is like Ebags but make your own. =D

Listening to: nothing =P

Hoshiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

I want this *Steph makes starry eyes at who ever reads this* normally I don't buy cards (unless they are the hard lami version) but this is the *whole* set of CCS movie 2 cards. Of course logic comes in at the last minute and says to me "so what? they'll catch dust and you'll never look at them again!" which can prolly be exemplified by the fact that I am auctioning off 3 sets of playing cards that were collected when I collected Nakayoshi and Ribon. These sets are fairly rare (especially the CCS one it came with a trump card for tricks. ^_^) and a HanaKimi character book. ^_^ They should be up for ebay fairly soon. =)

On the subject of Card Captor Sakura, the Card Captor ML has been wreaking havoc on my mail box. X_x some person decided to add the Card Captor ML to their ML with out anybody's permission and proceeded to send the CC ML chain letters. Later he sends out attachments and images at the bottom of his replies. =P Now I don't mind a sig or two (I have a small one) but this person adds attachments as sigs and that takes up mailbox space. What's more frustrating is that instead of being understanding he gets angry and decides to sabotage the ML. =P Of course the ML in turn decides to up the ante on bickering by giving him their attention. Out of the 150 (that's an estimate) messages I got in the past 24 hrs maybe 15 of them is actual on topic discussion. I liked this ML when Card Captors did not air and when people didn't do stupid things to it. Maybe we can move the list to Majordomo or something. @_@

Anyways, I'm waiting for class to start I have 20 more minutes to go then I go home and edit pictures and set up an ebay account. I wonder if anybody reads my blog. o_o If you do thank you, and wow you're actually interested in my fairly monotonous life. ^_^

Hello my name is Stephanie and I am a Yuppie...

Warning: We'd like to note that Steph will now talk about food, read this entry at your own risk! Thank you

"Protect your bagels put lox on them!" har har har

I love bagels, but I can only eat them staggered. Also debating had tempoarily killed my love of bagels. They would serve bagels cold and hard and there would only be huge bricks of cream cheese that was so hard it would 1) break the little plastic knife and 2) make the bagel tear when you spread it on. =P I like them toasted with flavored cream cheese on them with cucumbers, tomatoes, and avocado. Its like my version of "healthfood" ^_^ I love noah's bagels specifically, their super onion bagel requires mints after eating, the same with their garlic bagel. The Sun dried tomato bagel is just packed with flavor! The Asiago bagel is just superb with cheese on top and I always get an Egg bagel because they have a nice buttery flavor. =d

Some may say, "Why do you buy from Noah's bagels! The icon of globalization!" (I've taken a class on globalizaion, 2 actually... so I know the whole impact and "bad noah! bad!" ethic...) but I just answer with "Because they taste like what they're called." I tried safeway bagels once and the pesto was not pesto-ey enough, the onion was a weak excuse for an onion bagel, and there was no sundried tomoato.

"Starbucks has a strong commitment to coffee producers, their families and communities, and the natural environment to help promote a sustainable social, ecological, and economic model for the production and trade of coffee. ..."
--- Starbucks

I guess I might as well add the fact that I like Starbucks. Not their coffee but their other nice "tailored to you" drinks. I don't go often because they're expensive but a drink or two (especially after a visit to the dentist or the orthodontist) is a nice treat. Who else would take an order of "tall hot chocolate, an extra shot of chocolate, and a shot of creme de menthe" with out batting an eye? ^_^ Starbucks was the great inventor of the greatest hotchocolate on earth, Double Hot chocolate. =d It was two shots of chocolate with chocolate mousse or choco whipped cream on top. Later I added a shot of mint and it tasted heavenly!

So yes I contribute to the end of mom and pop shops, I give freely to the bad culture that prevades Gap, Abercrombie and Fitch, Noahs, and Starbucks. I shop at the Gap and at Abercrombie because I happen to like what they have not because is trendy (that and when their stuff goes on sale its like getting shirts for 5 bucks =D). I never buy their clothes at full price (except for 1 and only 1 pair of gap jeans because this particular style will never go on sale and it fit me like as if it was made for me! Jeans are hard to find! Especially when your frame cannot take to slim jeans well @_@).

I wonder why its so wrong to be a Yuppie, I wonder why its so wrong to support shops that try to make $ like the rest of the shops out there.

When I am in Berkeley, 95% of the time (with out fail) I will brave 20 minutes and trek past the Sather Gate and past Bancroft and go to a cool corner coffee shop on Bancroft and Telegraph called Expresso Roma where I get my favorite combination: 1 Ham and cheese criossant and 1 tall raspberry mocha. The coffee shop that captured my heart was the one in UCSD in the Price Center called Expresso Roma, my other favorite coffee shop is a great place to catch up with old friends, a place in San Ramon called Expresso Romano (the names happen to be coincidental...). I love these two shops for their coffee and their atmosphere. =)

As for bagels... I'll stick to Noah's until Safeway creates a darn good Super Onion that requires Altiods afterwards...

Listening to: Chains of Love - Erasure =) I love this band.

Birthday Negociation Season ^_^

You know that time of the year when you have freedom to negociate (or drop hints) for bday presents? ^_^ (ok I'm making this up but its sort of true...)

Stephanie's silly list of things for her birthday:

1) year's supply of socks (not kidding here, socks of black and grey and white, I keep losing them when I do laundry).
2) my laundry magically appears folded and washed on my bed when I come home from school (socks all matched and not missing ^_~)
3) sleep
4) 2001: A Space Oddessey (movie and book I love the book!)
5) A new bookshelf
6) more memory for my poor computer
7) year's supply of printer cartidges
8) Free kinkos copies for a year ^_~
9) 1 green HYDE street sign

This year its fairly normal stuff (ok ok except for the laundry request and the free kinkos copies and the memory and the printer cartridges... so its not normal =P). Considering the fact that little towers of books and manga occupy my floor I think its a good idea to to get a new bookcase and get some more memory for poor Ringo who putters along. ^_^

Listening to: L'Arc en Ciel - Anata ^_^ That song is so romantic even if I don't understand it completely. *_*

*hopping*

Japan becomes more and more a reality than ever before! I should be writing an essay right now but I'm blogging instead. @_@

Anyways, Emi and I have been looking for hotels and official dates @_@ woooo now we have to prevent ourselves from spending major okane at Kino. [steph] I can get it in Japan. I can get that in Japan. *repeat*

I still ph34r the weather, the otaku boys, and the scary train system but its ok. ^_^ I'll come home with memories, a Hey Hey Hey ticket, manga and possibly some good DJ. XD
[Kerochan] and lots of milk tea pocky!
[Steph] Oi. -_-

Actually I want lots of milk tea pocky, they rarely sell it here. =P

hot steamy rice nyuuuuuuu

*sigh* I can't find a decent picture of Puchico in her usual sailor outfit. I'm trying to figure out if her skirt is a puffy skirt or just a pleated blue skirt. X_x I figured I could pull off a fairly decent Puchico at Fanime (I'm short and cute I gotta use that somehow right? ^_~).

Anyways, I spent an hour in the computer lab instead of doing the 3rd homework assignment that is due for my calc class. Luckily its functions and graphing them (fairly review work for the first month *whew!*)

I'd like to preface this next paragraph with a note: I love my cellphone, I won't leave home with out it (I won't know how to reach people with out it or know what time it is @_@) but I don't like people ignoring their phone for 15 minutes letting it ring forever. -_- Answer the damn thing and then get off =P There are 60 angry people in this lab that you'll have to face if you don't. ~_~

(random) Listening to the people confused in the lab makes me sort of thankful that basic computing and web navigating is intuitive to me ~_~ like those dhtml "up" and "down" pages (the java pages on those lovely putinnamehere.nu sites. I guess its being around computers since I was small helps. =P I'm just thankful and appreciative of this. (random)

Piro from Mega Tokyo draws really really well. @_@ (Steph sparkles at Piro's work) specifically how he can change his style to suit a character's certain look. Ruri looks like Ruri but he does not sacrifice his style to make Ruri look *exactly* like Ruri. (If that makes sense at all @_@) Anyways I love Piro's version of Puchico. ^_^

Listening to: this guy not answer his cell phone. ~_~ Someone give me a mallet.

Aiiyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Comiket 53 Catalouge cover

Plans to go to Comiket are becoming a reality. o.o (Steph ph34rs the heat, the crazy otaku boys, and the uber good cosplayers she'll encounter). Planning the trip is @_@. But in the end I will go to the land of doujinshi and pick up Kagerou Nostalgia DJ! XD

Some interesting but scary advice about Comiket:

I'm not kidding when I say that you will be pressed like sardines . There is NO room to walk, especially on Saturday. You can barely look at the tables. There are HUGE aisles with NO space. Ladies, do NOT wear short skirts or short shorts. You are just ASKING to be fondled by some perverted otaku, especially if you look foreign at all. I saw it happen, I had it happen! Be careful.

^^;;; See why I ph34r? Not that I am worth being fondled over =P but still...

Don't run when the gates open. In fact, do not run at all during the event. -- Comiket 58 Rules

O_O

1. Don't go in summer. Besides that summer's one of the most expensive times to travel in Japan, the weather is miserable, especially in Tokyo. Also, you wouldn't want to be there if the air conditioning breaks, like it did this summer ('98). People were passing out from the heat and CO2 poisoning! I'd most recommend winter Comiket, if you have an option. And as one friend's recent experience has reminded me, it's much less likely to rain in December, as opposed to August.

Rain? Heat? C02? O_o The summer part can't be avoided...

Interesting advice about the trains...

3. I recommend getting to the Shinkansen platform -at least- 20 minutes early if you don't have reserved seats; lines form. During major holidays (Golden Week, etc.) get there as early as possible; the lines will be in the news.

O_o debate camp is sounding more and more "safe"...

Tortilla Rocket!

Today I went to SJ Kino and picked up some manga I have been waiting for years for and it was there all along. ~_~

Himitsu no Hanazo, Abunai Paradise and Cross Oneself 5 (this one was just about a month ^^;;). I'll probably post an observation about these 3 titles as well as St. License on my other blog Not On the Shelf

Katie, Emi and I went to Lucca Deli on Valencia and 22nd (Steph apologizes to Katie for the insane traffic in SF especially Mission St. ^_^;;;;) for some Torani Syrup (which is the only place I know that has every flavor of Torani Syrup ***_***) we walked away with 8 bottles of Torani Syrup a few boxes of Raviolli and Gnocci and some Tiramisu. =d Katie proclaimed the place evil for its amazing food and I sort of just niko-niko-ed at her. ^_^ I love sharing the places I spend my childhood with friends. I walked away with vanilla, caramel, and raspberry flavored syrups, 2 boxes of really really fresh raviolli, 1 pkg of tiramisu, and 1/2 lb of pesto sauce (my grandmother doesn't like marinara). We left them bewildered, 3 people asking for 9 different flavors of Torani at once sort of confused the poor workers at the deli but we left happy. (BTW I suggest Lime flavor its good with coke =d I'm getting a bottle the next time I go =D)

Anothe cool restaurant is North Beach Pizza, which is good for its pizzas but also good for its pastas! They deliver too which I really really like. =D

We also coined the term "Tortilla Rocket" which is a rice rocket but done by (by the obvious pun) hispanics. ^_^ We saw this modded Kia Sephia near City College on the way to my house. It had fuzzy dice, chain license plate frame, cow print seat covers and a not so matching spoiler. ^_^;;
