Its 04:20 p.m. why isn't Steph asleep yet!?!

...

I may have a tendancy to do things differently. But in the end its not that I don't blame myself or don't take responsibility (well not where its needed o.o). But something disturbs me after I read things that criticize actions I do. I guess I take them more literally (or personally) than most do.

When I debate its not that I don't debate to win (everybody does that, deep inside, the element of competition takes over a natural instinct. I guess it goes back to when people had to compete for food? ^^;;) but the idea that I have a good debate, because in the end that's what winning is to me, just debating good and learning from it.

I don't find fault with what T-san says in her blog, it just disturbs me that I had no idea that this is what she was thinking. Instead of telling me about it she writes about it. And in the end its sort of like airing laundry.

But I should get to the point, I thought we made fairly decent partners in debate (2 tournaments does not make for a well fit for partners o.o its not like bam! wow these two are great together!) but never in the end did I blame her for any of the losses we did. (Well I do take blame for the 1AR yelling match. Its a habit when I think an argument needs to be made and its not getting there fast enough. Its a kick back because I'm usually the 1AR and to see someone else do the 1AR (regardless of how fast/good/notgood/slow they are) is like torture because its the speech I *love*.) But to be honest its the best 2 tournaments I ever had all year. Infact its the best 2 tournements I had all 3 years of college debating, and it wasn't for the wins ^~. No, it was because I left every round thinking "Wow I learned something." and for the most part (except for a few spotty moments) I had a partner that was *gasp* fairly compatible. I didn't have to worry about the other person missing an argument that may be needed later in the round. To me that's the most important aspect of having a partner. It doesn't matter if they're the best (like Kevin) or the fastest (like Mary) what matters is that they have a good time. Which I thought was what was going on.

T-san, I'm not really upset, just disturbed. I don't blame you for anything, if it ever came across as blaming then I apologize for that. You are are quickly becoming a good debater (better than me probably).

If I ever refer back to my old high school debate days, its because to me those years were the most memorable in my life. (And those years were not sparkling perfect either. I spent much of my first 2 years trying to make it into varsity and then the last 2 years dealing with coaches who really didn't coach and teammates that woudld rather play team politics than worry about the good of the team.) I'm not infalable, if anything I'm probably a walking disaster.

Ummmm yeah... I think that's it.

Rant: I just wish people would not lie to me. I never liked it when people hid things from me. ^^;;; *end Rant*

Random note: yes I've seen football, I just avoid it at all costs, its not a sport I enjoy. (I'm a nerd remember? I find history more appealing than sports o.O) Its just amusing that football which is such a violent sport can be so funny at the same time. As Theresa pretty much said in an exclamation "Girl what rock have you been living under!?" ^^;;

Listening to: Shiina Ringo - Gips (I love this song)

This probably won't be my last blog entry of the day. ^^;;

*GNAW* Not on the Shelf Layout 2

I've gotten into the bad habit of making "versions" of layouts and things I do. For example this blog layout is in layout #4 and version 4.0. I don't know why I am #-ing my layouts but it seems kinda cool. One day I'll get tired of it and decide to not # things anymore.

*Warning Steph is going to go into Bishonen drool mode - aka fangirl mode ^^;;*

On another note, my blog "Not on the Shelf" has a new layout. Eventually Doki-doki will get a new layout too. I'll probably upload it but not reveal it until February. The layout will have Lantis (my 2nd ultimate doki-doki boy!). I love anything Rayearth. ^^ Especially when its got Lantis on it. He was the first bishonen I liked. So he has sentimental value I guess. The cool thing is I found this image and it had Lantis and Zagato on it and they looked quite yummy! Infact Tama-neko made a skin out of the Zagato portion.The first doki-doki boy is by far Ryuudo Tsuzuku from Souryuuden. (Its the Clamp version not the OVA version. ^^;;) I don't know who created Tsuzuku whether it was Apapa's art or Nanase's imagination but something happened that created the most *beautiful* man on the 2D world. *_* If I ever find a live version of Tsuzuku ... I'll just leave it at that.

*Steph realizes the fangirl mode she was in a moment ago and apologizes.*

What I really wanted to rant about tonight was how my "Not on the Shelf" layout took me 5 hrs to make. It looks fairly simple but in reality it was the hardest layout in the world! I was cursing at everything defaulting on me in the process to make it too (even Winamp decided to default on me -_-). In the end I simplified the layout (added Lantis too!) and added a new entry. ^^ I'll stick to frames (they seem easier to do for some reason). Maybe this is just someone's way of saying "Get Dreamweaver you schmuck!" ^^;;;

I hate having a cold. I forgot what its like to not breathe through your nose. =P Also... I'm mourning the loss of my CD player. I dropped my discman on my hardwood floor and it stopped playing for me. The sound is distorted. ;_; I'll find the warranty and hopefully trade it in for a newer model. ^^ If I can find my warranty in the mess of papers on my desk that is. =P

Listening to: Barenaked Ladies - Call and Answer (from the Stunt CD) its a cool song, the lyrics are neat too. Especially the line that goes "I'm warning you don't ever do/those crazy, messed up things that you do/If you ever do/I'll be the first to crucify you." ^^;;

Gilbert!

Random observation, doesn't Gilbert from HanaKimi sort of resemble Leo DiCaprio? *ducks from Emi's shoe* ok ok that was just my impression when I got to see more Gilbert art in the HanaKimi manga. ^^

The link above is a colored picture of Gilbert. Its amazing when you have free time and you have photoshop to play with =D.

now for a rant: I hate it when checks post all at the same time its like whoooosh! your checking acct is wiped out. ;_; I think I will try not to mass spend at Kino any more and let my checkbook recover from the bloodloss. ^^;;; *end rant*

Oh I forgot to add I went to Starbucks (in Compton o.o) and I saw like 7 police men sitting around one of those little round tables I thought it was amusing but as our friend Charles said "I'd rather not be in a place that has so many policemen." I agree ^^;;; (Tanzy added that it was in a place that was not near a donut shop either ^^;;;.) But the coolest thing I got at Starbucks was a red and white cup with little snowflakes that said Sparkle on it. =D It was only 2 bucks (which for Starbucks is darn cheap imho ^^;;).

Listening to: Catch You Catch Me (The CCS OP) sung by Sakura's seiyuu ^^;;; (its very cavity inducing =B).

**Oh no! More nerdy Debate-speak!**

^^;; as the title says more nerdy debate speak. But I did go to Mandarake and picked up some manga.

On the night of the 31st we ended up in Tony/Chris/&Dewitt's room to party with a bathtub full of er... ice (read and alkie ^^;;). It was like a drink buffet in the bathtub! In the end one of one of our teammates yaked in the room and I got reversed suplexed into a bed. >_< it was a painful new years eve. It wasn't as memorable as last years where my coach decided to tell us about some nuclear reactor blowing up in Africa (the debate nerd in me reacted first with thoughts of "damn! Now I gotta cut cards about this stuff -_-" and then the human part of me followed up with thoughts of "Oh my God how terrible!") then my coach said it was a joke and we promptly loathed him until food came and we forgot (well mostly ^^;;).

The next day we sleep till 1 (until someone woke me up ;_;) and then we watched football (which I napped through ^^;;) and then around 6ish we finally got around to working on arguments and recutting cards etc.

The next day Tanzy and I prepare ourselves for 3 rounds of pre-lims to which we lost in the first round, should have won but lost in the second round, and lost in the third round to a very good team. The next day we try again to beat these teams but we fail again. (we lost to a team we beat at the earlier USC tournament.) In the end Tanzy go sick and we were excused from the 6th round where we observed a cool debate between Tony/Dewitt and Toni/Cameron of CSU Fullerton which was quite funny =D.

The next day we wake up half groggy and watch a round between Fort Hayes (Kansas) and Whitman (Washington) where Fort Hayes read poetry and played music and Whitman retaliated with war stories and Jazz music. It was a very entertaining round ^^;; (well to debaters it was cutting edge.)

We then head back to SF where Steven's (of Cal Poly) cold caught up to me and I spent the rest of the week in bed with a bad cold/flu. =P It was quite eventful.

Listening to: The Utena TV Opening theme. ^_^

Ooooo look I archived

Notice the new layout? ^^ I love Hana Kimi mostly for the angsty tear-my-hair-out plot that involves Mizuki and Sano. That and Sano is a doki-doki guy!

Hmmm I guess I should start telling you about my wonderful trip down to LA. To many they would think, "Spend new years with a bunch of debaters!?" But to a group of hardcore debaters (or those who really didn't have better plans ^^;;;) who went to two back to back tournaments over the winter break. We'd say, "Its better than a bad New Year's Party." ^^;; Debaters call those two tournaments, Swings because of the transition from the winter semester to the spring semester.

The story begins on Dec 27th where Tony, Dewitt, Tanzy, and I converge at my house in SF and cut cards till we go nuts. We had to cut arguments for some congressional issues that always pop up when there is a transition in congress. @_@ Needless to say we all leave my house at 4:30am arrive at Tanzy's house at 5:30 and get like 2 hrs of sleep where we wake up at 8 and leave her house at 8:30am and arrive at SFSU Humanties building with an expando 70% done with cars that still need to be cut. And bless her soul, Theresa decided to help us cut the rest of the cards. @_@ The four of us fell asleep for 50% of the ride down on the 28th and we were stuck in a dazed stupor. @_@

We arrive at the lovely Hyatt Regency in downtown LA (about 15 mins from USC and additionally Compton!) where we all shower the grime off us and then get to work debating (we haven't debated in over a month @_@) and then we go to bed.

Tanzy and I prepare ourselves for 4 pre-liminary rounds of debate on the 29th. Since it was the one of the strongest national tourmanents we got our asses kicked and left that day with 0-4, a bruised leg and back (Tanzy's ^^;;), and our pride pretty much mangled. We went toe to toe with one of CSU Fullerton's toughest teams in the fourth round. It took the judge 40 mins to decide and then an additional 20 mins to tell us his decision. To me that was about the same as a win. ^^;;; (Tanzy on the other hand did not like the round it was too rhetorical for her ^^;;). Then we met up with Hotaru at Starbucks and went insearch of food. (Arigatou Hotaru for driving us around LA for food ^^;;).

The next day we both were expecting our asses to get kicked again, but this time we found ourselves winning two of our 4 rounds. We went 2-6 against some of the toughest teams in the Nation (ironically 4 days later we went 0-6 against not so tough teams ^^;;;). But that day we went out to eat and then I dyed my hair deep Cherry! But with my dark hair it only darkened my hair and gave it a reddish-purple sheen. Which I don't mind either ^^.

The next day (31st) we go watch the winning teams and then meet up with Hotaru again and go to Mandrake where we pillage Mandrake and then we jetted off to the Marriott on the CSU Fullteron Campus where we celebrated New Year's with more debaters and then slept through most of the 1st ^^;;. And then we went to work cutting more cards and rewriting arguements for rounds.

I'll write more later ^^ but now I need to get some rest I still have a head cold. I feel as if someone stuffed my head with Charmin Ultra ^^;;

Listening to: Gackt Nite Spyral (an interesting Jrock song ^^) and then The Pillows Ride on Shooting Star (a less angsty Jrock song =D)
